Navigating and Embracing Change: Exploring the Menopause Transition among Women with Spinal Cord Injury
STUDY BASICS
Are you a person going through menopause? And have a Spinal Cord Injury? You may be able to participate in a research study to help us learn more about menopause and SCI. We want to better understand your experience of menopause that goes beyond symptoms so we can develop a conceptual framework for women with SCI going through menopause.
STUDY PURPOSE
The purpose of this project is to develop a conceptual framework of menopause in women with SCI. The purpose of these discussions is to understand your experience of menopause that goes beyond symptoms. This is a joint study between the University of Michigan and the University of Pittsburgh.
COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
- Be between the ages of 40-60
- Have an SCI and > 1 year postinjury
- Be perimenopausal or postmenopausal
WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
The research study involves one focus group or individual interview that will take 30-60 minutes of your time. After we complete the focus groups/interviews we will share the information with you, and you will be asked to complete one survey to ensure we didn’t miss any important information. You may also be eligible to participate in a cognitive interview to help validate the survey. All parts of the research project can be done online and over the phone.
