STUDY BASICS

Are you at least 20 weeks pregnant? You may be able to participate in a research study to test different ways to measure health-related quality of life and how it changes over time. This study involves 4 surveys that can be completed online or over the phone. Participants will receive a $5 Amazon, Starbucks, or Target gift card for each completed survey.


STUDY PURPOSE

Understanding a person’s overall health-related quality of life is important for researchers and clinicians. The purpose of this study is to test different ways to measure health-related quality of life and how it changes over time. Researchers hope their findings lead to better ways to assess health-related quality of life in the future.

  • At least 20 weeks pregnant
  • Comfortable speaking English

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT

Each survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and will be repeated every 4 weeks, for a maximum of 4 surveys. The survey includes questions about your physical, mental, and social quality of life. The survey can be completed online or by phone.

MEET THE RESEARCHER


Janel Hanmer

Janel Hanmer, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin and a mom of two great kids, Dr. Hanmer’s research interests include health-related quality of life measurement, particularly health utility measurement.

Polly McCracken

Polly McCracken, MA, is a Research Assistant for Dr. Hanmer. After returning to work in research a few years ago, she recently completed her Master’s Degree at Carlow University. Previously, Ms. McCracken did research at CMU, but took a hiatus from academia and worked in her children’s school district to have a similar schedule.
