STUDY BASICS

Are you 65-85 years old and diagnosed with glaucoma? The Human Movement and Balance Laboratory at the University of Pittsburgh is conducting a research study to better understand balance, gait, mental health, and brain features of glaucoma and how they differ from features found in adults without glaucoma. Compensation provided.


STUDY PURPOSE

The purpose of this study is to learn how mental health influences standing and walking in people with glaucoma. 


COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
  • Between 65 and 85 years old
  • Have glaucoma
  • Able to walk and stand independently

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
  • You will be asked to participate in up to 5 visits lasting no more than 11 hours total, and a year of at-home fall tracking
  • You will take home a sleep-tracker and a step-counter
  • You will be paid up to $386 along with parking expenses

Rakié Cham, PhD, is an Associate Professor at the University Of Pittsburgh Swanson School Of Engineering. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Cham’s research interests include postural control, gross movement biomechanics, gait, falls, and ergonomics.
