STUDY BASICS

Are you 18 years of age or older and recently given birth to your first baby? You my be eligible for a research study to develop and refine a weight loss intervention for moms who recently gave birth. Compensation is provided.


STUDY PURPOSE

The purpose of this research study is to develop and refine a weight loss intervention for moms who recently gave birth.  


COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Recently given birth (in the past 7 months)
  • First baby
  • Body Mass Index (BMI) of at least 25 kg/m2

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT

There are two types of interventions that you could receive if you decide to take part in the study. Both interventions provide tips on how to sleep better, eat a healthier diet, and be more physically active to help you lose weight. The intervention you receive is decided at random, like a coin flip.

Marquis Hawkins

Marquis Hawkins, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Epidemiology at the University of Pittsburgh. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Hawkins’ research interests include the interrelationship of physical activity and sleep during and after pregnancy and the independent and joint relationship these health behaviors have with maternal health outcomes.
