Barriers to Care for Adults with Vestibular Disorders
STUDY BASICS
Have you experienced dizziness and/or balance problems (peripheral vestibular disorder)? You may be eligible for a research study to identify barriers and facilitators to accessing care for individuals diagnosed with peripheral vestibular disorders. Participants will be asked to complete a one-on-one interview and, about one year after the interview, a focus group. Compensation is provided.
STUDY PURPOSE
The purpose of our research study is to identify barriers to accessing and managing care for individuals diagnosed with peripheral vestibular disorders. Specifically, we want to understand barriers and facilitators from the perspectives of patients to overcome barriers and support facilitators to evidence-based care in the future.
COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
- Are age 18 or older
- Been diagnosed with a peripheral vestibular disorder (have had dizziness and/or balance problems)
- Have not attended physical therapy for a peripheral vestibular disorder.
WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
Participants will be asked to complete a one-on-one interview describing their experiences with accessing and receiving care after being diagnosed with a peripheral vestibular disorder. We will also ask participants to participate in a focus group to share their experiences with access to care and prioritize strategies to overcome the barriers and support the facilitators identified in the interviews about 1 year after the initial visit.
