STUDY BASICS

Are you 60 or older? Do you live alone or are you experiencing feelings of loneliness? You may be eligible for a research study to better understand the relationship between social isolation/loneliness and psychological wellbeing over time among older adults. Compensation is provided.


STUDY PURPOSE

The purpose of this research study is to examine social isolation/loneliness and wellbeing over time among older adults.  This study wants to understand the impact of the relationships between on older and younger generations on social isolation/loneliness.

  • 60 years and older
  • Live alone and/or experience feelings of loneliness

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
  • A consent call
  • 12 weekly video calls with a student researcher 
  • A wrap up call

MEET THE RESEARCHER


Akiko Mizuno

Akiko Mizuno, PhD, is a Research Instructor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Mizuno earned her doctoral degree in Cognitive Psychology from Carnegie Mellon University and completed her postdoctoral training at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Mizuno’s research focuses on the neurobiological and psychosocial mechanisms underlying well-being and cognitive health in older adults.
