STUDY BASICS
Do you own a valid US Driver’s License? You may be eligible to participate in a research study to investigate how vehicle driving styles, interaction types and time constraints influence driver decision and behavior during repeated interactions. This study involves one study visit which will last approximately 90 minutes. Compensation is provided.
STUDY PURPOSE
The purpose of our research study is investigating HV (human-driven vehicle) - AV (autonomous vehicle) cooperation in the mixed traffic. Specifically, we want to investigate how vehicle driving styles, interaction types and time constraints influence driver decision and behavior during repeated interactions.
COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
- At least 18 years-old
- Normal or corrected-to-normal vision, NOT be color blind
- Have auditory acuity (hearing aids are acceptable)
- Be licensed to operate an automobile in the United States
- Able to drive in a driving simulator for about 60 minutes
WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
Participants will come to the lab to experience the automated driving simulator. The study team will collect participants’ physiological signals, including gaze behaviors and heart rate activities. Participants will engage in driving tasks while wearing an eye tracker and being attached to small electrodes and probes. They will be requested to interact with different types of vehicles in various game-theoretic scenarios. It will require only one study visit which will last approximately 1.5 hours.
