Female Concussion, Menstrual Phase and Sexual Dysfunction - Healthy Volunteer
STUDY BASICS
Are you 18-45 years old and are not currently on hormonal birth control? You may be eligible for a research study to evaluate how injury affects women’s menstrual cycles and sexuality. Compensation provided.
STUDY PURPOSE
The purpose of this research study is to evaluate how injury affects women’s menstrual cycles and sexuality. Injury in women is very understudied, and the effects of injury on women’s reproduction and sexuality is even more so. The study will be looking to see if injured women have any changes in their reproductive and sexual health after being injured.
COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
Woman 18–45-year-olds who have not had a concussion or extremity injury in the last 3 years may be eligible.
WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
You will be asked to complete 3 study visits. Visit two will occur 30 days post-Visit 1. Visit 3 will occur 90 days post-Visit 1. During these visits you will be asked to complete:
- A urine pregnancy test at the beginning of each visit
- A one time blood draw at the initial visit
- Surveys at each visit
- A saliva sample at each visit
- Weekly use of menstrual and sexual history log for 12 weeks
