Acute Inflammatory Response Study – Healthy Volunteers
STUDY BASICS
Healthy adults needed for a 1-visit research study to help learn more about normal immune levels. Eligible participants weigh more than 110 pounds, have had no illness or infections within the past 2 weeks, and have not been hospitalized or had a traumatic injury in the last month. Compensation is provided.
STUDY PURPOSE
Following a traumatic injury, the body’s immune system launches an inflammatory response designed to promote healing and guard against infection. However, in some cases, uncontrolled inflammation throughout the body can lead to life-threatening complications such as organ failure. The purpose of this study is to help researchers understand why some injured people develop organ failure and others do not by comparing healthy people with normal immune levels to people who have experienced a traumatic injury. Researchers hope their findings will lead to better treatment for people with traumatic injuries in the future.
