STUDY BASICS
Are you a veteran? Have you sought or had an abortion? You may be eligible to participate in a research study and share your experience about seeking and/or obtaining an abortion. Compensation is provided.
STUDY PURPOSE
We are interested in learning about your reasons for seeking an abortion, any barriers you encountered or support you received while you were seeking an abortion, and what your interactions were like with healthcare providers (both within and outside of VA) during this time. The information that you provide will help us better understand Veterans’ experiences of seeking or obtaining an abortion outside of VA while having VA healthcare.
COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
Eligible participants:
- Are a Veteran age 18 – 50
- Have sought out or had an abortion
- Were enrolled in VA healthcare when you sought out or had an abortion
WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
An experienced research team member will call you to schedule and conduct a qualitative interview. This interview can last anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes, depending on how much you want to share with us. We will ask questions about when you sought and/or obtained an abortion and your experiences with the healthcare system. We will ask for your consent to audio record the telephone interview. The recording will be stored confidentially in our VA database. You may skip any question you do not wish to answer, and you may request to stop audio recording at any time in order to say something off the record. Your healthcare providers will not know that you participated in this interview, and they will not know anything that you share with us.
