STUDY BASICS

Has your child been diagnosed with cancer between the ages of 12-17? Your child may be eligible for a research study to look at how adolescents and young adults with cancer self-advocate or stand up for themselves.

STUDY PURPOSE

We are collecting information to understand how adolescents and young adults (AYAs) with cancer stand up for themselves. We call a person’s ability to stand up for their own values and beliefs “self-advocacy.” We will use your feedback to design programs to help AYA patients with cancer advocate for themselves.

COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOUR CHILD?

Eligible participants:

  • Are ages 12-17
  • Have been diagnosed with cancer and are receiving treatment

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT

The study consists of one online survey and one one-on-one interview. You and your child can complete the survey remotely at your own convenience. The interview will take place over Zoom or in-person in the clinic where your child receives treatment, depending on your preference. We estimate that the survey will take 30-45 minutes to complete. We estimate that the interview will take 30 minutes. Together, this study will take about 65 minutes to complete.
