STUDY BASICS

You may be able to participate in a study looking at how much commonly prescribed medications such as Sumatriptan, Cyclobenzaprine, Gabapentin, Trazodone, Venlafaxine, Citalopram, Furosemide, Topiramate, and Methylphenidate for mothers are present in breast milk and babies post-delivery.

STUDY PURPOSE

Over half of women in the US who are breastfeeding their infants take prescription drugs. You are being asked to participate in this study because you are breastfeeding or are planning to breastfeed your infant and are currently taking, as part of your medical care, at least one of the drugs we are studying. We are interested in studying drugs commonly prescribed to women who are breastfeeding so we can learn more about the amount of drug that is transferred to breastmilk and estimate how much of that drug is consumed by breastfed infants

COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?

If you decide to participate, you and your infant(s) will be co-enrolled into the study. You may be in this study for up to 240 days, you may sign this consent form up to 60 days prior to the birth of your infant. You will be asked to provide blood and/or breastmilk samples for up to 180 days after the birth of your infant. Your infant may be in the study up to 180 days of age.
