SPHERE Study - Pregnant teen 14-17
STUDY BASICS
Is your teen pregnant? Is your teen interested in sharing their experience with food access and health? Your child may be eligible for a research study about food insecurity and health at the University of Pittsburgh. Compensation is provided.
STUDY PURPOSE
The purpose of the SPHERE study is to examine how food insecurity, meaning difficulty accessing enough healthy food, affects health and wellbeing during pregnancy and postpartum. We hope this research will provide new information that will help us better support the needs of pregnant and postpartum individuals at risk for food insecurity.
COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOUR CHILD?
- Less than 17 weeks into your pregnancy
- Are 14-17 years old
- Living in the greater Pittsburgh area
- Worried about your food running out in the past 12 months
WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
Your child will be asked to complete three virtual visits during pregnancy and one in-person postpartum visit. During these visits, your child will complete surveys and interviews about food access, eating, and wellbeing. At the in-person visit, we may measure your child's height, weight, and blood pressure.
