STUDY BASICS

Do you have pain or a history of a substance use disorder? You may be eligible for a research study to describe clinician and caregiver perspectives on how to communicate with patients who are prescribed opioid pain medicine and who is using substances such as heroin or cocaine.


STUDY PURPOSE

The purpose of this research study is to describe clinician and caregiver perspectives on how to communicate with patients who are prescribed opioid pain medicine and who is using substances such as heroin or cocaine. 


COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
  • ages 18 and older
  • have pain OR a history of a substance use disorder 

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT

Each interview will take approximately 30 minutes.  Interviewers will ask about your opinions about how a doctor should communicate with a patient who has pain and is using substances such as cocaine or heroin.    All interviews will be recorded, and only study team members will have access to recordings.
