STUDY BASICS

Do you have frequent, daily hot flashes? You may be eligible for a research study interested in new approaches to detect hot flashes using wearable monitors. This study will collect information at three visits. Compensation is provided.

STUDY PURPOSE

This research study is designed to determine the accuracy of detecting hot flashes between two hot flash monitors.

COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?

  • Between ages 40-60 years
  • Have frequent daily hot flashes
  • Are willing to wear two hot flash monitors for at least 24 hours and report when you have a hot flash
  • Have a smart phone

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT

We will collect information at three visits.

  • Visit 1 consists of reviewing screening questions, physical measurements, and monitor calibration set-up.
  • Visit 2 consists of complete monitor set up and instructions on how to report when you have a hot flash. You will then go about your daily activities wearing both monitors for at least 24 hrs.
  • After, you will return to the lab for visit 3, where we will monitor how many hot flashes you have while sitting/laying in a temperature-controlled room (73.4-77°F) with a heating pad on your abdomen.
