STUDY BASICS
Are you an African American/Black woman currently the parent of an 11 to 14-year-old daughter and willing to participate in a study with your daughter and your mother? Do you all currently reside in Allegheny County? Your family may be eligible for a research study to learn how pregnancy health knowledge and family health history are shared across generations.
STUDY PURPOSE
This study explores how pregnancy-related health information is shared across three generations of Black women in families. We are especially interested in how mothers, daughters, and granddaughters talk about pregnancy and health and how storytelling can improve knowledge, trust, and connection.
COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
- You self-identify as Black/African American
- Your daughter is 11-14 years old
- Your mother is willing to participate in the study
- Your entire family lives in Allegheny County
- Is interested in sharing their pregnancy experiences and family health knowledge.
WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
You and your family will reflect on pregnancy health, create personal zines (short, handmade books), and participate in interviews and surveys.
