STUDY BASICS

Are you age 50 or older? You may be eligible for a research study to learn more about a blood test for the early detection of cancer. This study involves a blood test, results and follow up on your health for up to 3 years. Participants will complete questionnaires at different times during the study. Compensation is provided for completion of the questionnaire.

STUDY PURPOSE

The purpose of this study is to understand the performance of a new test for early detection of different types of cancers.

Researchers want to learn more about:

  • The accuracy of the blood test for detecting cancer
  • How the study test results impact health care provider decisions
  • What you think about the study test

COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
  • Are age 50 or older

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
  • If you are eligible, you will have 1 clinic visit to collect blood samples
  • In about 2 weeks, a member of the study team will then discuss the test results and next steps with you. Out of 100 people who take the test, about 99 will receive a result of no cancer signal detected and about 1 will receive a result of cancer signal detected. If your blood test shows no cancer signal, the study team will contact you about twice a year for three years to check on your health. If your blood test shows a cancer signal, the study team will help you to arrange any recommended follow up tests for cancer.
  • For the next 3 years, the study team will check on your health and review any test results, diagnoses, and treatments you may have.
  • A member of the study team may also contact you by phone, mail, text message, or email to ask you questions about your health.
  • You will also be asked to complete questionnaires at different times during the study.
