STUDY BASICS
Do you have advanced heart failure? You may be eligible for a research study to investigating how Inspiratory Muscle Training (IMT) may change functional capacity of the lungs and other aspects of health in participants. Compensation is provided.
STUDY PURPOSE
Researchers at the University of Pittsburgh are attempting to determine the safety, reliability, and efficacy of Inspiratory Muscle Training (IMT) in older adults with advanced heart failure deemed stable by their physicians. IMT is a form of resistance training which strengthens the muscles you use to breathe. This research is investigating how IMT may change functional capacity of the lungs and other aspects of health in participants.

- are 65 years of age or older
- have advanced heart failure (NYHA II, III, or IV)
- have been deemed stable by your physician
WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT
- Exercise assessments at Baseline and 12-Weeks
- Monthly Phone Calls and Questionnaires
