STUDY BASICS

Are you 18-40 years old and willing to try an investigational hormone-free method of birth control? You may be eligible for a research study to investigate a potential new monthly, hormone-free contraceptive intravaginal product. This study involves 8 visits and two scheduled phone calls. Compensation is provided.


STUDY PURPOSE

The purpose of this study is to find out how well Ovaprene, a monthly hormone-free intravaginal product, prevents pregnancy in women who can become pregnant.


COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
  • Are female at birth, age 18-40
  • Have regular menstrual cycles
  • Do not wish to become pregnant for at least 13 months
  • Are sexually active with a male partner
  • Are willing to try an investigational hormone-free method of birth control

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT

This study involves 8 visits within an approximately 12 month period (13 menstrual cycles) and 2 telephone calls.

Beatrice Chen

Beatrice A. Chen, MD, MPH, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Chen is a graduate of the University of Michigan Medical School and the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health. As a member of the Center for Family Planning Research, Dr. Chen’s research interests include clinical research trials related to the development and advancement of HIV prevention methods, contraceptive methods and other family planning topics.
