STUDY BASICS

Are you African American and 55 or older? You may be eligible for a research study to learn more about how cardiovascular disease, sleep functions, and changes in the brain interact to cause changes in memory and thinking. Participation includes undergoing neuropsychological, sleep and cardiovascular assessments, brain imaging and collection of blood samples.


STUDY PURPOSE

The purpose of this study is to learn more about how cardiovascular disease, sleep functions, and changes in the brain interact to cause changes in memory and thinking in older adults.


COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
  • African American men and women age 55 or older
  • Able and willing to complete an MRI scan
  • No tobacco or nicotine use currently or within 3 months

WHAT PARTICIPANTS CAN EXPECT

Participants will be asked to undergo neuropsychological, sleep and cardiovascular assessments and brain imaging. This study also would like to collect blood samples.

Ann D. Cohen, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Dr. Cohen’s research interests include aging, Alzheimer’s disease, and neuroimaging.
