Informed Consent Study
STUDY BASICS
All adult Pitt+Me participants are invited to complete an anonymous online survey about informed consent forms used for research studies. The purpose of the survey is to help the University of Pittsburgh’s Human Research Protection Office (HRPO) find out what kind of information research participants think is important when deciding whether or not to participate in a study.
STUDY PURPOSE
An informed consent form is a required document that explains details about a research study to a potential participant. A new federal law requires that informed consent forms begin with a short summary of key information that is most likely to help someone decide if they want to participate in a particular research study or not. The purpose of this anonymous survey is to help the University of Pittsburgh’s Human Research Protection Office (HRPO) better understand what kind of information potential research participants think is important when deciding whether or not to participate in a study. Researchers will use the results to help write new guidelines for the research community at the University of Pittsburgh, and hope the new guidelines will make it easier for people to decide if they want to participate in research studies in the future.COULD THIS STUDY BE RIGHT FOR YOU?
